About me…

Fabio Chironi – Wildlife photographer and founder of Spotting Nature

My name is Fabio Chironi, I was born in Italy in 1975 and have been a professional photographer since 2008. I speak fluent Italian, my mother tongue, as well as French and English, skills that allow me to work easily in international contexts.

My passion for photography began underwater, exploring the seabed with my camera, fascinated by the hidden beauty of the underwater world. I then turned my lens to land, starting to photograph wildlife around Ventimiglia, my hometown. There, along the two rivers that run through the area, I spent countless hours capturing migratory birds during their seasonal journeys. It was there that I developed a deep connection with nature photography.

I then had the opportunity to live and work for two years in Botswana, where I collaborated with the Ministry of Tourism and Air Botswana, producing photographic reports in the country's main national parks and nature reserves. This immersive experience allowed me to gain an in-depth understanding of African ecosystems and further refine my approach to wildlife photography.

Since 2008, when I returned to Switzerland, where I currently live in Geneva, I have continued to work as a professional photographer. I have worked as an event photographer and taught numerous photography courses, collaborated with many international organisations, including UN agencies, and today I mainly focus on construction site and architectural photography, with and without the use of drones.

At the same time, I founded Spotting Nature, a project born out of my passion for nature and photography, with the aim of offering photography workshops in Africa, particularly in Botswana and Tanzania. My workshops are designed for photographers of all levels: from beginners who want to learn the basics of nature photography to more experienced enthusiasts who want to perfect specific techniques for photographing animals in the wild.

I work exclusively with highly qualified local guides with decades of experience in the savannah and a deep knowledge of African fauna and flora. I firmly believe in a respectful and authentic approach to photography, which focuses not only on the image, but also on understanding and respect for the natural environment.

Spotting Nature offers photographic safaris in Tanzania and Botswana. Each wildlife photography expedition is conducted by an experienced safari guide and a professional wildlife photographer, who assist guests in obtaining their desired shots and refining their photography skills.
